Post-It Art Drawings by Clare Johnson On Display at Ghost Light Theatricals for December

Ballard’s theatre company, Ghost Light Theatricals, has Clare Johnson’s art on display for the month of December.

Since 2005, artist and writer Clare Johnson has drawn on a post-it note each night before bed, recording an experience from the day or a thought at that moment.  This exhibition will show a portion of the project, which now totals more than 1,500 drawings and spans her life in London, Cambridge, Oxford, and Seattle.

The Post-it Note Project was featured in Seattle Weekly’s Best of Seattle in 2011.

Ghost Light Theatricals recently finished a punk-rock adaptation of Moliere’s Scapin in November and will open a gender-swapped version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet in January 2013.

Paintings By Melissa Fenwick Showing at Ghost Light Theatricals' Production of Scapin

Ballard’s theatre company, Ghost Light Theatricals, has Melissa Fenwick’s song-inspired paintings on display during their production of Moliere’s classic farce, Scapin. The lobby of their home, the Ballard Underground, will be open for the November Artwalk between 6:00-7:00 p.m.  At 7:00 p.m., the lobby will be open to patrons who are seeing the performance of Scapin at 7:30 p.m.

From the mind of Rob Raas-Bergquist, director of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Ghost Light Theatricals opens its landmark 10th season with Scapin, an adaptation of Molière’s classic farce, in the style of commedia dell’arte—one of the oldest forms of improvised comedy in the world—as viewed through the lens of the late-70s punk rock revolution. Chaos ensues when the titular character (archetypal charlatan Scapin) is tasked with helping two young men marry their penniless lovers, and proves how quickly indeed a fool is parted with his money. Love, lies, laughter, and a live band, this promises to be one of our most fun shows yet! Anything could happen, never the same show twice, Scapin is not one to miss!

Mark Siano creates haunting and spare images of nature, where something is always hidden and mysterious, through an endless array of weaving and twisting silhouettes. Bold and highly stylized images of tree branches, crows, nests, bramble, waterways, and flowers reflect Mark's interest in exploring the dense, complicated, and entangled areas of nature. Mark works primarily with ink and canvas and uses classic poster design techniques from the Art Nouveau era to frame and illustrate a large variety of projects. www.marksianoartwork.blogspot.com
