SAVOUR presents the art of Mike Cooper in October. 

Mike resides on the Delmarva Peninsula and his primary focus is with psychological movement, strong color, spontaneity, brightness, painterly brushstrokes, decorative patterns, and fleeting moments. We have on display several of his pieces that show his love of vibrant colors and flowers.

Garet Wolfe Brings Vivid Photographs to Savour

Garet Wolfe is originally from Fullerton, California and has spent most of his life creating art in one form or another – from music to printing to building Tiki bars. Garet picked up a camera again, inspired particularly by the digital revolution of the 21st century, and has been producing original photography ever since.

Buoyed by a certificate program at the University of Washington, Garet has been inspired to work in an increasingly complex and interesting way with all types of subjects. While many photographers lamented the passing of the darkroom, Mr. Wolfe can successfully build upon the solid foundation of traditional techniques, elevating his work to the next level with all manner of digital mastery.

“I like to make things look better than they do in real life. Softer, more colorful, even dreamlike,” says Garet when asked about his intentions. This comes across vividly in his marvelous work prompting the question, “how did he do that?” A fan recently remarked that his work is simply magical.

Garet lives in Greenwood with his wife and collie.

Children's Art From Loyal Heights Elementary School On Display at Savour For February's ArtWalk

SAVOUR to Display Loyal Heights Elementary Art

Starting Saturday, February 9, and throughout the month of February, Ballard residents, art enthusiasts, and Loyal Heights Elementary school’s students and parents will have the opportunity to see art pieces at SAVOUR that were created for the Loyal Heights Elementary annual PTA auction. 

The exhibit is part of Ballard’s Second Saturday art walk, held on Saturday starting at 6pm, and an opportunity for the public to see the art before it’s sold.

 

  

For this annual event parents volunteer to design and execute works of art in union with the students from each classroom. Pieces must be designed to include the involvement of each student in the classrooms, and the results are high-quality pieces that auction for up to thousands of dollars each. Last year’s pieces brought in more than $20,000 revenue for the school from the auction. 

This year’s art will be auctioned at Loyal Heights 19th annual PTA auction being held on March 9th at the Fischer Pavilion in Seattle. The event is the school's largest fundraiser and proceeds are used to fund essential student programs and classroom needs.

Savour Presents the Work of Sarah Ghanooni for the July ArtWalk

From an early age I would look through the art books and be captivated by the colors and movement within the pictures. Monet, Van Gogh, and Picasso were artists who inspired me and influenced my impressionistic style.

 I come from a diverse background of Mexican and Middle Eastern heritage, and that is part of the reason my art and style has so much variety.

 

I have always been drawn to bold colors and bright lights, which is evident within my work. I use very broad brushstrokes and try not to get caught up in all the little details. Through the brushstrokes of paint I can express what I cannot always say.  Website: www.sarahghanooni.com

Lesley Broadgate currently lives in Ballard with her husband, father, two kids and the family dog. When she was young she didn’t know what she wanted to be when she grew up, but she knew she would be a “maker of things.”

 

Art training in college paved the way and Broadgate's work today addresses the family unit and her fascination with the family dynamics in America. It has a mysteriously familiar feel to it that leaves you stained with a new memory, almost as if it was an old memory or dream.



Her work is straightforward and easy to identify with, as if your grandparents were telling you a story from their past. Broadgate has a clear obsession with old photographs and wallpaper like textures, which have this nostalgic quality that make you want to call your mom.
