The Ballard Artwalk is excited to welcome new kid on the block: Toast (formerly Aster Lounge).

Stranded in Ballard: A Tribute to American Gods
In Neil Gaimain's novel American Gods,
mythological figures who travel to the New World with the first
immigrants are soon forgotten and stranded in the United States. For
this show, artists will produce a drawing or painting portraying a god
or creature of Norse mythology stranded in modern or historic Ballard.

Mythos Art Club is a collective of character-driven, story-based graphic
artists in Seattle. The group consists of cartoonists, caricaturists,
tattoo artists and illustrators. Mythos meet for bi-monthly "Sketch
Jams," an event where artists produce new work based on a chosen theme
in just five hours and put it on display to the public.

October ArtWalk Artist: Megan Noel
For the month of October, Miro Tea is featuring local artist Meghan Noel. Ms. Noel is a painter, illustrator, & textile and mixed media artist working in the Northwest.
In recent years she has chosen to focus more on her intricate painting and illustrations. Her paintings and illustrations range from dreamy and surreal to delicate and whimsical. She seeks not to create masterpieces to grace the walls of museums, but rather to create smaller more intimate works to fit into the lives of readers and writers, poets and dreamers, mother, fathers, and everyday folk.

Paintings by Jay Wescott Featured for a Second Month at BalMar
Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Jay Wescott’s fascination with typography and cartooning started at a young age. Ever since, he has been working to incorporate the two through drawings, illustrations, murals, and design.
He has dedicated the past ten years of his life to street art, and continues to push the envelope and set the standard for perfection. His work can be seen in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Germany, France, and Holland. This particular group of work was inspired by the floral life I see in Seattle. My goal was to capture the beauty we get to see for only a short period of time each year.

Breia Mallett has always had a love for creating and after finding
herself constantly making little whimsical cards for her husband, Ryan -
they thought it’d be a great idea if they started a card business.
Breia starts her cards with simple hand-drawn images and then scans the image to her computer to digitally create the touches of color that complete the illustrations. All printing is done on their own professional printer at home; then the cards are hand scored, folded, rounded corners trimmed and packaged by hand. Every card is lovingly handled from start to finish. Breia delights in coming up with fun ideas for cards and being able to share her creations with others through her art.
For this month’s artwalk, Breia will be expanding her card collection to include some prints as well as small, original paintings done in acrylic on wood blocks.

Artist, illustrator, and graphic designer Kristien Ziska now lives in Seattle, but originally hails from the Arizona desert. This dichotomy of climates touches on the contrast in her interests, inspiration, and company she keeps and has been constant theme throughout her life. Ziska is horrible at sitting still and is currently in pursuit of balance and the ever-evasive virtue…PATIENCE. She enjoys producing art via watercolor, gauche, acrylic, pen and pencil, and digital prints. She is lover of babes, the desert, the universe, time and space, champagne, international friend visits, her beavers, crystals, moons, Egyptian symbolism, and kitty cats. As she reaches proper adulthood she is realizing her interests trend closer to that of her true self at 9 years old.
