Sticks&Stones Seattle Hosts 4 Artists and Foraged Jewelry for October


New to Ballard is Sticks&Stones Seattle, located on 22nd and Ballard Avenue. They have jewelry made from natural elements found in the environment, and a beautiful gallery upstairs.

For October, they are featuring Baso Fibonacci, Christian Lucas, Mike Wagner and Claudius Phaedrus.

Hidden Talents/Famous at Blowing Sands Glass for October

Hidden Talents/Famous

An exhibition of works by local quiltmakers & artisans.

Currated by Laurette Chasse. Featuring artists Nan Wonderly, Debra Hedeen, Meredith Crichton, Maggie Miller, Jordan Hotchkiss, Jackie Lamont, Heather Swoin, and Laurette Chasse.
Work in metal, fabric, wood, paper, mosiac, and clay.

New to the 2nd Saturday Artwalk is Karen Klee - Atlin of the Blue House Yellow Dog Studio.

Karen Klee-Atlin was born in Toronto, where she studied at the Ontario College of Art. She did graduate work in painting and printmaking and received her MFA in painting from the University of Calgary. She has lived in many parts of Canada and the US as well as in Peru, the Philippines and Mexico, teaching art in schools and universities as well as pursuing her own studio work.

Much of her life has been spent overseas and these periods of time have contributed richly to her work. Karen gathers images from a range of sources, including folk religious sculpture, industrial training manuals, and scarecrows, and renders them in woodcuts, acrylic, and oil. She has shown her work internationally, and her images can be found as the covers of two plays, Bone Cage and It Is Solved By Walking, by Canadian playwright and two-time Governor-General`s Award winner, Catherine Banks.

New To 2nd Saturday ArtWalk for October - Ballard Beer Company Hosts Lewis LaBrash






New to the Ballard 2nd Saturday ArtWalk is the Ballard Beer Company, located at 2050 NW Market Street (formerly La Tienda). With wonderful wall space, they are hosting Lewis LaBrash and his original acrylic on canvas paintings. Come by and meet the artist from 6-9pm, and sample a few brews.

Market Street Shoes Features the Photography of Tom Deering for October



A Northwest native, Tom was first attracted to the folklore of the Balkans, and Bulgaria in particular, during high school in 1968. A founding member of Seattle's Radost Folk Ensemble, Tom has made several trips to Bulgaria to dance, photograph, and study folklore, most recently with his family in 2010.
Most of the photographs in this show were taken at the Bulgaria's National Folklore Festival, held every five years since 1966 in the town of Koprivshtitsa.

BallardWorks Hosts "Fragments" in October


BallardWorks Exhibits "Fragments", Original Prints by Eight Printmakers, Becky Birinyi, Leslee Currie, Marcia Douglas, Ann Hunstiger, June Ireland, Marguerite Langlois, Lu McBride and Becky Prokop.

Eight local printmaker's explored the theme of "Fragments" using a variety of unique printmaking techniques for this exhibit. Enjoy the multitude of colors and textures in this fascinating display of their latest work.

Welcome New Venue "His Word Found Here" to October ArtWalk




2nd Saturday ArtWalk welcomes new venue His Word Found Here. Instead of a few copies of hundreds of titles, they have hundreds of titles all relating to one best seller: The Bible.
For the ArtWalk they will be featuring metalworker Sam Heitzenroder, who specializes in sculptire and wall hangings.

Venue Hosts Kathleen McCarty in October


Kathleen McCarty’s vivid paintings and prints showcase her love of color and the wild beauty of nature.  After studying at the Art Institute of Chicago, and in Florence, Italy, this Wisconsin native now calls the Pacific Northwest home. Currently, Kathleen’s work involves drawing on mulberry paper that is then affixed to birch panels. This is a contrast to her first love which is large acrylic on canvas paintings.  Her silkscreen drawings are equally as vibrant with her color choices and design.
