Misha Zadeh at Re-Soul For June Artwalk
Graphic designer Misha Zadeh will be showing new artworks at Re-souL in June. Her collection features mixed-media cut-paper artwork made from her own etchings and monoprints –some with additional drawing and painting layered over the newly composed art. Vibrant color and texture bring a rich depth to her clean and modern lines.
Misha made her first greeting card at age 4, magic markers and imagination in hand. Her parents, both architects, encouraged Misha's love for creating beautiful objects. She followed her passion to the University of Washington, earning a double degree in Graphic Design and Interdisciplinary Visual Art. When not working on commercial design for clients, you can find her cutting away, giving new life to her formerly discarded original prints.
Misha and her family are proud 15 year residents of beautiful Ballard (specifically Whittier Heights).

Jessica Lynn Henry hails from a small town just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. Despite her humble beginnings, she's lived all over the world: the outskirts of Paris, a remote jungle in Costa Rica, and now Capitol Hill in Seattle. She enjoys dead languages, palindromes, mismatched patterns, and making art that isn't boring. She gathers inspiration from Mormon folk art, Aleister Crowley, psychedelics, modern street art, Jungian archetypal theory, the relics left behind by ancient civilizations, and sacred geometry. She currently occupies one of the 28 rooms at the INartsNW -- a century old refurbished insane asylum turned art collective.

Mixed Media Artist Jeni Nelson Showing at Venue for October Artwalk
Venue’s featured artist for October is mixed media artist Jeni Nelson. After receiving a BA in Fine Art from George Fox University in Oregon, Jeni spent four years living in France working on her art and being influenced by French design sensibilities and the lovely days spent in her the brightly-lit covered balcony that was her art studio above a boulangerie.
Back in the Seattle area she has been pursuing wedding photography and floral design, but has also been expanding her mixed-media art. In speaking about her current collage series, Jeni says, “I love detail and pretty things, and of course I will never forget my shaping experiences in France. You will see these loves represented in my work.”

Julio Cesar Guerrero is Featured at Annie's Art & Frame for the August Art Walk
My name is Julio Cesar Guerrero. I’ve been raised in the Pacific Northwest since my parents immigrated here from Zacatecas Mexico when I was only three months old. Adapting to the U.S. culture has been easier for me than it has been for my parents, as I have naturally integrated with it. I have also seen the struggles of an immigrant first hand either it be the lack of assimilation to a new country or the challenge of communicating with a new world. Being a translator for my parents growing up as a child wasn’t easy, I was easily frustrated with myself for being caught in a conversation without words to be able to describe either or’s feelings. I would go throughout my day with that scenario imprinted in my head and in it I would create short experimental film clips of the feelings that were trying to be transmitted through me, which words could not fill. So, I started drawing those feelings on anything I could get my hands on.
As I create my art pieces I dig deep into the sincerity of who I am and my emotions in order to express the fragile complexities of an immigrant. Finding that which creates strength within us in order to adapt and survive in any given setting. The pieces I create are a buildup of different ideas and as I dig deeper into them I add more to what it wants to become or speak. Creating from whatever is at hand, screwing, nailing, painting and pasting. The most fun part of creating my artistic expression is the challenge of adapting to the integration of the different mediums and textures I use. Learning to appreciate the errors and the complimenting effects that are created out of the different materials is only the beginning of what the imagination can create.

and the family dog. When she was young she didn’t know what she wanted
to be when she grew up, but she knew she would be a “maker of things.”

Art training in college paved the way and Broadgate's work today addresses the family unit and her fascination with the family dynamics in America. It has a mysteriously familiar feel to it that leaves you stained with a new memory, almost as if it was an old memory or dream.

Her work is straightforward and easy to identify with, as if your grandparents were telling you a story from their past. Broadgate has a clear obsession with old photographs and wallpaper like textures, which have this nostalgic quality that make you want to call your mom.

Leah Libow's Ancient Configurations of Beauty and Harmony features a mixed media show where beeswax is the primary medium. Along with beeswax, Leah combines a variety of laces, doilies and acrylic paints to forge together pieces that evoke contemplation and while capturing the essence what she calls the Divine Feminine.

"Additionally, my use of beeswax comes from a love of the smell and textures created by melting and forming it, from my love for the honeybee’s ability to create and spread nourishment, and from the honeybee’s deep connections to the Feminine Archetype. Using beeswax, doilies, lace, and acrylic, the abstract and organic patterns I create in my paintings become maps to consciousness and to the Divine Feminine."
